Course Information

To be able to assess dairy farms against the National Dairy Farm Assured Scheme (NDFAS) standards, the NDFAS training course must firstly be attended and all assessment criteria passed.

The training course is of three days duration and held at either Harper Adams University College or Crichton Royal Farm.

Consultancy Days

For those new to dairy farming or assessment procedures, additional one to one training specifically tailored to the individuals requirements e.g. dairy hygiene, herd health etc. If required additional consultancy days could be provided for an individual.

These additional consultancy days will be conducted at the course venue on the day/s immediately prior to the course start date. (When appropriate more than one delegate could attend the consultancy day where needs are the same).

Assessment

Each training course is assessed via a written paper at the end of day three.

If successful the trainee must then undergo a shadow assessment of two farms within 12 weeks of the training course. If successful in both shadow assessment and written paper the trainee is then awarded the National Dairy Farm Assured Scheme Certificate of Competence.

In order to maintain their assessor status - assessors must complete at least six (6) assessments per annum and undergo a shadow assessment of two farms every 15-18 months.
